Clayton County narcotics investigators seized vehicles, cash and drugs Tuesday afternoon, when police responded to a call about a burglary at a Stockbridge apartment complex.
Police arrested Melvin Lewis, Jr., 26, and Miayiaki Lanee High, 26, and charged them with multiple felonies. Charges include possession and manufacturing of marijuana. They are being held without bond in the Clayton County Jail.
Police Sgt. Tracy Jakes said officers went to the Villas at Hannover Apartments on Hannover Place about 1:38 p.m., in response to a 911 call about a burglary.
When they arrived, officers reported smelling marijuana and contacted the Narcotics Unit, she said.
Investigators executed a search warrant at the unit and found a felony quantity of marijuana and residue in a large, blue, bale wrapper, which is a packaging system for the drug. Officers also took a 2005 Infiniti SUV and a 2004 Infiniti sedan, and more than $22,000 in cash, said Jakes.
According to Georgia Department of Corrections records, Lewis spent six months of a three-year sentence in a boot camp, in 2007-2008, for possession of marijuana.
