Donald Horace “Pappy” Hiett, Sr.
Donald Horace “Pappy” Hiett, Sr., 82, of Hampton, died on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011. He was born Oct. 5, 1929, to the late Lowell and Jewel Hiett, in Henagar, Ala. He was a long-time resident of Hampton. Don retired after 32 years from Delta Airlines. He was a private pilot, and a member of First Baptist Church of Lovejoy.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Christopher Keith Hiett, and sister, Elizabeth Ann Littlefield. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Wynogene Tedder Hiett; sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Rebecca Hiett, and Mike and Linda Hiett; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Bill Lassiter; brother, Bill Hiett; and uncle, Frank Hiett; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
His family will receive friends for visitation at First Baptist Church of Lovejoy on Saturday, Nov. 19, 11 a.m., to 1 p.m., prior to the memorial service. Memorial services are scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m., at Pope Dickson & Son-Jonesboro Chapel, with Pastor Mike Hardin officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Educational Building Fund of First Baptist Church of Lovejoy, 2347 Talmadge Road, Lovejoy, Ga., 30228.
