Clayton News Daily
Evie is a 4 to 5 year old Terrier mix. She has been spayed and fully vaccinated. Evie has a very sad story; one that is far too common in Clayton County. Evie was one of 12 neglected dogs, all living in poor conditions and being allowed to reproduce repeatedly. Evie and all the other dogs were taken away from the owner, and criminal charges were filed against her. The dogs were held at Animal Control for 18 MONTHS, while the criminal charges dragged through the system. When all was said and done, most of the dogs were destroyed, and only a few survived the tragedy that had been thrust upon them.....Evie was one of the lucky ones to come out alive. From her physical appearance, it was clear that Evie had been pregnant several times, and that she probably never got enough to eat. We believe that explains her dislike for most other dogs; we believe she was repeatedly impregnated and probably had to fight to eat. Evie will most definitely need to be an "only pet". However, she LOVES people and has shown NO AGGRESSION TOWARDS PEOPLE, INCLUDING CHILDREN. She is sweet and loving, despite the horrible past she suffered before her rescue. Her favorite toy is an old bucket, which she will knock around and even put on her head for hours on end. She is an absolute delight and will make a great addition to some lucky home. EXTREME CAUTION will be exercised in choosing a new home for Evie. Please be prepared for an interview and a home visit prior to adoption acceptance. Due to her breed, CCHS will maintain contact with Evie's new family, and future home visits will be required. Anyone interested in adopting Evie should contact Robin at 770-478-7531.
