Mr. James Earl Spriggs, 65, of Jackson, passed away Nov. 17, 2011.
He was born in Pikeville, Ky., to the late Hobe and Fannie Dotson Spriggs. He was preceded in death by a son, James Ellis Spriggs, and siblings, Betty Bowling and Herman Spriggs.
He was a truck driver for more than 20 years, having retired from Roadway. His stage name was “Jimmy George Jones,” while singing at karaoke shows. He enjoyed gardening, singing and watching western movies.
Survivors include his wife, Pattie Spriggs; children, Bryan Spriggs, of Mobile, Ala., Lori (Anthony) Farrugia, of St. Cloud, Fla., Christina Saunders, of Jackson, Ga.; grandchildren, Samantha Farrugia and Jesse Singletary; siblings, Keat Spriggs, of Florida, Anna Rae Turner, of Drift, Ky., Maryetta Edmondson, of Tacoma, Wash., Joyce Sykes, of Ohio, Bertha Williamson, of Lexington, Ky.; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Nov. 20, at 6 p.m., from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Rev. Wayne Rickard will officiate. Friends may visit the family Sunday, from 4 p.m., to 6 p.m.
