Ms. Jean Rains
Ms. Jean Rains, 76, of Jonesboro, died Nov. 20, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, John Rains; father and mother, Hubert and Darlene Peterman; three sisters, Judy Peterman Brooks, Sarah Dene Peterman and an infant sister; and her son, William Steve Rains.
Ms. Rains was a member of Burts United Methodist Church of Oglethorpe County, Ga.
She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Lynn Rains, of Hampton; daughter-in-law, Sheryl Rains, of Ellenwood; nephew, Todd Brooks, of Acton, Mass.; niece, Tina (Kenny) Fields, of Maxeys, Ga.; great-nephew, Tom Fields; great-niece, Tiffany Fields, both of Maxeys, Ga.; three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The graveside service will be at 1 p.m., TODAY (Tuesday, Nov. 22), in Sherwood Memorial Park, with Chaplain Michael Winsor officiating. Committal will immediately follow the graveside service. The family received friends at the funeral home, from 5 p.m., to 8 p.m., Monday, Nov. 21. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Clayton County Fire/911, 7810 Highway 85, Riverdale, Ga., 30274, (770) 473-7833.
