The U.S. Social Security Administration announced this week that it is closing all of its field offices to the public, for one day, on Friday.
Administration officials explained that employees will be spending Friday working to reduce a case backlog. That comes on top of the offices being closed, with employees not reporting to work, on Thursday, for Thanksgiving.
The nearest Social Security field office is located at 6670 Merchants Way, in Morrow. The administration recommends that people log onto www.socialsecurity.gov, or call 1-800-772-1213, if they need any type of assistance on Friday.
People who need to do business with the administration, in person, can do so by visiting the office on either Tuesday, or Wednesday, between the hours of 8:30 a.m., and 3 p.m.
