Rosalind Celeste Corbitt
Rosalind Celeste Corbitt, 60, of Forest Park, passed away on Friday, Nov. 25, 2011, from complications due to pneumonia. She was born in Atlanta to the late J.B. Corbitt and Rosalind (Rose) Corbitt, of Forest Park. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Marie (Corby) Corbitt.
She is survived by her sister, Cindy Weeks; brother-in-law, Mike; two nieces, Alecia Capes, and Lauren Weeks; great nephew, JC Capes; great-niece, Kinsey Capes; long-time friend and companion, Gale Withrow; an uncle, two aunts and many, many cousins.
Celeste served her country in the Navy, retiring after 20 years of service, in 1994. After retiring, she pursued her education in computer sciences. She battled cancer and was in remission for the last 4 years. She was active at the Forest Park United Methodist Church, and was an avid Braves fan. She participated in walks for cancer research and was very passionate about the Women’s Veteran Memorial Fund, honoring servicewomen.
Visitation will be at the Parkway Garden Chapel TODAY (Tuesday), from 2 p.m., to 4 p.m., and from 6 p.m., to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov., 30, at 2 p.m., at the Forest Park United Methodist Church, with Ron Cape presiding. Interment will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, the family requests that donations be made to The Humane Society, the Cancer Fund, or a charity of your choice. Parkway Garden Chapel, 1000 Forest Parkway, Forest Park, Ga., 30297, is in charge of arrangements.
