There is just one fire chief in Clayton County to have earned a unique, national, professional-designation title, according to national credentialing officials.
Morrow Fire Chief Mark Herendeen has successfully completed the process to earn the title, "Chief Fire Officer."
Herendeen was originally designated Chief Fire Officer in December 2008. The Commission on Professional Credentialing conferred the re-designation Nov. 15.
The designation program is voluntary, to recognize people who demonstrate their excellence in seven measured components, including experience, education, professional development, professional contributions, association membership, community involvement, and technical competencies.
Herendeen is one of 818 CFOs in the country, and the only one in Clayton County, according to the program's web site.
