Santa Clause shows off a CSU pillow at The Loch Shop on Tuesday. The general public was able to take free pictures with Santa.
The Loch Shop, at Clayton State University, had more of a boost in foot traffic than usual Tuesday afternoon, and a “visitor from the North Pole” might’ve caused the stir.
Santa Claus, and his two little elves, found some time to visit the students and members of the general public who came through the shop, located at 2000 Clayton State Boulevard, in Morrow.
Darius Davis, the assistant manager for customer service and general merchandise at The Loch Shop, was dressed as Saint Nicholas. Davis was in character and let out a jolly and strong “ho, ho, ho,” which could be heard throughout the facility.
“Pretty much everybody knows who is playing Santa,” he said with a laugh.
Adults and children were able to take a free picture with Santa Claus. Youngsters could also share their “wish lists” for Christmas.
Santa Claus only makes his debut at The Loch Shop once a year, though he may come back, if he is requested, Davis said.
Last year was the first year the store included Santa Claus, and brought the opportunity back to the public recently, because it was well-received, he said.
The store also held its “Spin to Win” game, where those who participated got 25 percent, to 75 percent, off in clothing and apparel bearing the CSU logo, he added.
Participants who took advantage of the deal spun a wheel containing a variety of discount amounts. “You’re a winner, regardless,” said Davis.
Rashonda Harris, a sociology major at CSU, got 40 percent off, after spinning the wheel.
“I think it is good to [show] student involvement,” she said about the activities at the shop.
Davis said students normally come in to purchase test-taking materials, but the discount game encourages them to buy CSU clothing and apparel, which could serve as a Christmas gift for a special someone. Furthermore, he said, the shop also had general interest trade books discounted at 40 percent off the list price.
The public also benefited from free gift wrapping. The Loch Shop’s holiday operation hours will be from 8 a.m., to 5 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays, and from 8 a.m., to 3:30 p.m., on Fridays, Dec. 9, through Dec. 23.
The store will reopen on Jan. 3, from 8 a.m., to 5 p.m. Normal store hours will resume on Jan. 4, Mondays through Thursdays, from 8 a.m., to 7 p.m. Friday operation hours will remain the same, from 8 a.m., to 3:30 p.m. For more information, contact The Loch Shop at (678) 466-4220.
