To the editor:
Anyone in Jonesboro is familiar with the novel Gone With The Wind and our association with it. In the story, Scarlett OHara had to sell herself in marriage to a man she didnt love, in order to pay the taxes on Tara. Todays real-life story has an elderly Jonesboro resident having to sell her wedding rings to pay her taxes (Clayton News Daily 9-27-2011). It seems everyone in this economy is having to cut back or sacrifice. Everyone that is except the City of Jonesboro. There have been NO major cuts to the citys budget. Only calls for a city property tax. Everyone should let their voices be heard. NANCY COFFMAN JonesboroMore like this story
