CARROLLTON — Police say some parents tried to fight 11- and 12-year-old football players during a chaotic scene at a recreational game in Carroll County.
Authorities say both teams involved are serving suspensions after Saturday's melee at a game between city and county youth teams.
Parent Naketa Parham tells WSB-TV that the violence began when parents from one of the teams rushed onto the field after becoming upset by some of the play calling. Police say several parents ran onto the field and yelled obscenities.
Parham said one of the parents held a boy down and tried to get his helmet off so another child could jump on him.
Police issued citations to three coaches, accusing them of disorderly conduct and obscene language.
