One of the groups that manages Georgia’s PeachCare for Kids health plan is set to hold a health-benefits fair next week, in Jonesboro, for area teachers and other state employees, according to a spokesman for the Peach State Health Plan group.
The fair is scheduled to take place Monday, from 2 p.m., to 6 p.m., at the S. Truett Cathy Professional Learning Center, located at 1087 Battle Creek Road, in Jonesboro.
Peach State Spokesman Bert Brantley said, in a written statement, that educators and other state employees will be able to find out about health-care coverage options available to them in 2012.
“New for this year, teachers and state employees are eligible to see if they qualify for PeachCare for Kids [for their children],” Brantley said. “There are also significant savings for the state,” he said. “If the state’s estimate of 40,00 children are switched over, it will save the state $32 million a year.
“The only problem is, when we talk to folks at these benefit fairs, they have no idea this change has been made, and they are now possibly eligible,” Brantley added.
