Lovejoy man charged in double shooting

Lovejoy police arrested a local man in the late Sunday night double shooting of two others.

Sgt. Michael Gaddis said Monday that Lloyd Brown, Jr., 20, of Lovejoy, is charged with aggravated assault in the shooting of two men over a disagreement.

Gaddis said the victims, both 18, were taken to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment of gunshot wounds.

One victim was shot in the lower, right back and foot, and was expected to undergo surgery, said Gaddis. The other was shot in the right shoulder and was due to go home Monday. They are expected to survive their injuries, he said.

Gaddis said police were called to 2292 Nicole Drive just before midnight Sunday in reference to a shooting, and found the victims outside. They were taken to Atlanta Medical Center, where police interviewed them.

Gaddis said the men said they knew the shooter and identified him by his first name, Lloyd.

"They'd had a disagreement with him earlier in the day," he said. "Then one of the men found his tires on his car had been slashed."

When the men encountered the man later that night, Gaddis said, they tried to confront him about the vandalism.

"He picked up a rifle and started shooting at them," said Gaddis.

He said his investigation connected Brown to the shooting, and Brown was arrested about 12 hours later.

"He was arrested without incident and taken to the Clayton County Sheriff's Office for processing into the jail," said Gaddis.
