A motorcyclist was killed early Wednesday morning on southbound I-75 when he clipped the bumper of a car during a lane change and lost control of his bike, said police.
Morrow police Detective Larry Oglesby said the rider was then hit by a second car. The rider, in his mid-to-late 30s, was trapped under the car and died at the scene, said Sgt. Oglesby.
Police withheld the release of his name Wednesday pending notification of his family, Oglesby said.
The detective said the crash happened about 6:40 a.m., and there were no other reported injuries.
Rush hour morning traffic backed up for about two hours near the Mt. Zion Road-Ga. 54 exit while emergency personnel worked to clear the scene. Oglesby said officers diverted traffic to Jonesboro Road to ease congestion.
";Most drivers only know one route to get to work,"; he said. ";This is why we suggest people knowing two or three alternate routes.";
