A Morrow church will host a ceremony Sunday to bury a time capsule to be opened in 50 years.
Sam Obi, spokesman for St. Augustine Episcopal Church, said the ceremony starts at 12:30 p.m. and is a first for the church. The capsule will hold a variety of items for future generations to discover.
"What we are doing is writing letters, collecting artifacts, books, electronics, CDs, DVDs, anything we can think of that will inform the future St. Augustine's of the things we are doing now, who we are and the various ministries and outreaches we have now," he said.
The items will be placed in a metal box and will buried near the church to be opened in 2061.
"This event also coincides with our Homecoming Sunday," said Obi. "This is the Sunday we set aside once in every year to fellowship with all our members, those who are affiliated with us, those who transferred to other places to return once a year to their home church. So this makes it even more spectacular."
