Friday Night Round-Up: Spratlin Tosses 5 Td Passes In Elca Win

From Staff Reports

Eagle's Landing Christian quarterback Aaron Spratlin threw five touchdown passes as the fourth-ranked Chargers defeated host Manchester 47-8 Friday in a non-region game.

Spratlin, who is being recruited by several Ivy League schools, connected with senior Scott Barlow on two touchdown passes and one each to D.J. Curl and Keyante Green. Green, a highly-recruited junior, also ran for another touchdown in the win to improve the Chargers to 2-1 on the season.

Curl also had two interceptions to lead the defense.

Henry County 28, Jackson 7

Chris Moody passed for 149 yards and ran for 59 in the Warhawks Region 4-AAA win on the road.

Almost half of Moody's passing yards came on a 75-yard scoring pass to Dieonte Bryant in the first half. Warhawks running back Jonathan Jean-Bart had 113 yards on 17 carries, including a 5-yard scoring run.

An interception by Josh Forbes proved to be a game changer just before the intermission. With Henry County leading 13-0, Jackson had drove down to the Warhawks' 4. Forbes intercepted a pass in the end zone and returned it to the 49 as time expired in the half.

Banneker 29, Riverdale 22

Riverdale senior receiver Sateri Powell had two touchdown receptions and also returned a punt for a score in a Region 4-AAAA loss at Southern Crescent Stadium.

Riverdale dropped to 1-2 overall and in the region.

Banneker (3-0, 3-0) was led by quarterback Justin Henderson, who accounted for three touchdowns. He had 19 carries for 101 yards and scored two touchdowns. Henderson completed 10 of 17 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown.

Trojans running back Tyrell Brown had 136 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries.

Northgate 42, Ola 14

Jojo Spann was virtually the entire Mustang offense, but it wasn't enough to save them from a loss. Spann accumulated 167 all-purpose yards, with three receptions for 74 yards and 13 carries for 93 yards

Dutchtown 19, Upson-Lee 7

Like a thief in the night, Quinton Pressley robbed Upson-Lee of any chance to win the game against host Dutchtown Friday.

Pressley's three interceptions, one returned for a second-quarter touchdown, snatched any hope for victory away from the Knights. The visitors scored late on a spectacular kickoff return to avoid a shutout.
