The Clayton County Library System’s Headquarters Branch will host “My F.O.C.C.US,” a College Readiness Series, Thursday, Sept. 15, from 7 p.m., to 8:45 p.m., at the library, at 865 Battle Creek Road, in Jonesboro. For more information, call (770) 473-3850.


The Clayton State University Foundation’s Annual Town & Gown Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, Sept. 19, at Eagle’s Landing Golf & Country Club, in Stockbridge. Registration is under way for both golfers and sponsors. Teams can register for $500, or individuals can register for $150 and be placed with a team the day of the event. Sponsorships are available on six different levels, including: Event Sponsor ($5,000), Co-Tournament Sponsor ($2,500), Laker Sponsor ($1,000), Player Gift Sponsor ($1,000), Food Sponsor ($200), and Hole Sponsor ($150 per hole). The Clayton County Retired Educators Association will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 11:00 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church on Main Street, Jonesboro, in the Christian Activities Building. The major topic will be on Weather Safety, presented by Lans Rothfusz, meteorologist in charge of the National Weather Forecast Office in Peachtree City. The Clayton State University Department of Campus Life will host its Third Annual Diversity and Multicultural Conference on Thursday, Oct. 13, and Friday, Oct. 14, in the Student Activities Center. Registration runs through Friday, Sept. 23. The event is free to Clayton State students. Clayton State faculty and staff pay $20, non-Clayton State attendees, pay $35. Clayton State University Health Services (UHS) is offering flu shots for the Clayton State, and surrounding, communities. No appointment is necessary for the shots, which can be administered to individuals, age three and older. Costs for shots are: Clayton State students, faculty, staff, and family members, $15. The Clayton County Public Library System offers many services to students, including online practice tests and tutorials in math, reading, and writing, test-preparation materials (SAT, ASVAB, GED, TOEFFL, occupational aptitude tests, etc.), online computer classes, and online language learning classes.
