Testimony begins this week in the trial of two men accused in the April 2010 shooting death of a third man, during what police said was a drug deal gone wrong.
Clayton County District Attorney Tracy Graham Lawson said the case is being prosecuted by Chief Assistant District Attorney Erman Tanjuatco. Co-defendants Claude Keith Hunter II, 24, of Hampton, and Jason Leon Heywood, 26, of Stockbridge, could spend the rest of their lives in prison if convicted of murder.
Police said the two shot and killed Andrew Wilson, 23, during an April 28, 2010, marijuana transaction at a Stockbridge apartment complex. Witnesses told police Wilson took $1,300 with him to buy the drugs from the suspects. Only $200 was found inside the car Wilson had been driving.
The suspects fled the scene and were arrested later, said police. Hunter is being represented in court by Herbert Adams, Jr., and Heywood is being defended by W. Charles Lea.
