A McDonough woman was killed in an auto accident Wednesday on Ga. Highway 20 east, near the entrance to the Indian Creek Overlook subdivision, in McDonough.

The Henry County Fire Department (HCFD) responded around 7:45 a.m., with three ambulances, to an accident scene where two were trapped after the vehicles collided.

"Highway 20 was shut down both ways while emergency personnel extricated, treated, and prepared each of the patients for transport," said HCFD Capt. Sabrina Puckett. "The road remained closed for a little while longer while cleanup was performed."

Three victims -- two adults and one child -- were transported to area hospitals.

The Henry County Police Department is investigating the traffic fatality, said Maj. Jason Bolton.

"The accident occurred when a Chrysler Pacifica that was traveling east on Highway 20 crossed over the center line, and struck a Chevrolet Silverado that was traveling west," said Bolton. "The driver of the Silverado, 43-year-old Susan Studle, of McDonough, was transported to Henry Medical Center where she later died from her injuries."

Studle's 5-year-old son, who was in the back seat of the car she was driving, was transported to Egleston hospital and treated for minor injuries, added Bolton.

The driver of the Pacifica, Erin Floyd, 30, of McDonough, was transported to Atlanta Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

"The Henry County Police Department's Traffic Unit is investigating the crash, and upon conclusion will turn its findings over to the District Attorney's Office for prosecution," said Bolton.
