Mr. Lamar Shelnutt

Mr. Lamar Shelnutt, of Jonesboro, passed away Sept. 20, 2011, at the age of 59. Lamar was the National Program Director for the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) based in Albuquerque, N.M., and was in Albuquerque at the time of his passing. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Sept. 25, at 2 p.m., at Jones Memorial United Methodist Church, with interment to follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. Dr. Richard Long and Rev. Steven Usry will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday, Sept. 24 from 5 p.m., 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Lamar is survived by his wife, Kay Trammell Shelnutt; parents, Laimon and Bobbie Shelnutt; daughters, Katie Shelnutt Collins (Brook), of Monroe, Blair Elizabeth Shelnutt, of Atlanta; sisters, Lynn Barnette, of Jonesboro, Lisa Autry, of Eatonton, Cindy Clough (Jeff), of Sharpsburg; grandchildren, Mack and Jake Collins; mother-in-law, Carolyn Trammell; brothers and sisters-in-law, Barry and Karen Trammell, Tracy and Alan Gibby, Kerry Trammell; nieces and nephews, Ashley Barnette, Jason Trammell, Madison Trammell, Jennifer and Clint Purcell, Megan Gibby, Jackson Purcell; several cousins.
