Each of the 4,000 rubber ducks have been accounted for, and last-minute preparations have been taking place this week.
Now, save for some final prep work scheduled to take place today, all that is left for Clayton County Court-Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) volunteers to do is hold their 13th Annual Darlin’ Duck Derby.
The derby, which is a fund-raiser for CASA, is scheduled to be held Saturday, from 10 a.m., to 6 p.m., on the lawn of the Historic Clayton County Courthouse, located at 121 South McDonough Street, in Jonesboro.
The racing of the ducks is expected to take place at approximately 4 p.m., but live music, food vendors, children’s games and a rock-climbing wall will be available throughout the day.
The owner of the winning duck will win a 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer, donated by Heritage Cadillac-Saab-Mitsubishi, in Morrow. Owners of the second-, and third-place ducks will receive $2,000 and $1,000 cash prizes, respectively.
People can sign up to have a duck in the race by logging onto www.ducksrcoming.com, or by calling (770) 477-3268, or (678) 610-1061. People can also sign up at the event, up until 30 minutes before the ducks are launched.
