John H. “Jack” Tolan, Jr., devoted son, brother, father, and partner, was born March 10th, 1949 to John Harris Tolan and Bernice Lawrence Tolan. He attended Cross Keys High School, where he was a National Merit Scholar, graduating in 1967. He then earned a BBA in Real Estate from GA State University in 1972, where he was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi, Pi Chapter. His career in real estate spanned decades, beginning as part-owner of Tolan-Rozelle Realty in Fayetteville, Ga. in the 80's. Jack served as President of Young Realtors of Fayette Co. in 1984, President of the Board of Realtors, Fayette Co. in 1986. He later began a career as an independent appraiser in 1987, until his recent death.

Jack will be remembered for his exuberance and love of life and music. He learned to play guitar, fiddle, and banjo, and was a member of a local amateur band in the late '70's, Cottonwood. He continued his life-long love of music, attending concerts and performances at various local venues, and was also known by his family as a "music trivia expert." He could always make others smile or laugh, and his partner of 20 years, Terri Ray, said "he was my sunshine."

In addition to Terri, he is survived by three children, Greg Tolan, of Lawrenceville, Lauren Tolan Crane, of Cornelia (Brad), John H. Tolan, III, of Lawrenceville (Elaine); mother, Bernice Tolan, of Woodstock; Aunt Sally Godfrey, of Pensacola; sisters, Sheran Loudermilk, of Woodstock, Cathy Curlette, of Stone Mountain, Suzanne Belk, of Kennesaw, two adorable grandchildren, Carter and Carson Crane, of Cornelia, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held, Monday, Sept. 26, 2011, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Ford-Stewart Funeral Home.
