James Edwin Hoover, 68, of McDonough, passed away at his residence on Sept. 23, 2011, surrounded by his family. Mr. Hoover was born in Mt. Union, Pa., to the late Lee and Ruth Fetzer Hoover. He was a graduate of Illinois State University and was a very patriotic man who proudly served his country in the United States Army. He loved training Beagles and hunting and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He and his family have lived in McDonough for the past 16 years and are members of Zion Baptist Church in Covington.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Sue Ann Hoover, of McDonough; sons and daughters-in-law, Zane and Tami Hoover, of McDonough, James and Dawn Hoover, of Flovilla, and Steven L. Hoover, of McDonough; grandchildren, Christa White, Taylor Martin, Aidan Hoover, Skylar Hoover, Samantha (Boo) Hoover and Will Hoover; brother, Thomas Lee Hoover, of Oakwood, Ga.; sister, Ina Rae Griffin, of Gainesville, and many nieces and nephews.
The family received friends Sunday evening from 4 p.m., to 7 p.m., at Wheeler Funeral Home, in Covington. Services were held Monday evening, Sept. 26, at 5 p.m., at Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Reese Sanders officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sanders Life Center Building Fund at Zion Baptist Church, 7037 Hwy. 212, Covington, Ga. 30016.
