The City of Stockbridge is launching a new event for its community, to help usher in the fall.
Bridgefest will be held, Saturday, from 9 a.m., to 5 p.m., at Clark Park, adjacent to the Merle Manders Conference Center. The free event marks the first fall festival for the city, according to Miranda Roberts, Stockbridge’s director of events.
“The city wanted to create a signature event, and didn’t want to do something in the spring, because that’s when a lot of other festivals are held,” Roberts said. The [Stockbridge] Community Relations Committee decided on the fall, she added.
Roberts said nine musical acts are scheduled to perform throughout the day, including The Rockerz and Nick Hagelin.
“We will have a full entertainment stage all day,” she said. “We’ll also have an interactive children’s area. The Henry County Fuller Center will have a tent set up, and they will teach the kids how to build birdhouses, and other projects as well.”
The Teen Expressions, a local non-profit organization, will have cookies and pumpkins for children to decorate.
Other attractions scheduled for the children’s area of Bridgefest, are ponies, Elmo from Sesame Street, and Chipper the Chipmunk.
