Area art patrons and lovers are invited to converge on the McDonough Square for a chance to explore their creative side.
McDonough Arts will host an ‘Art in the Park’ event, Saturday, from noon to 5 p.m., on the McDonough Square. Visual, performing, and literary arts will be highlighted.
“We have face-painters, oil painters ... an eclectic blend of artists,”
said Jeff Hunter, chairman of the event and a member of the McDonough Arts Board of Directors.
McDonough Arts is a member-sponsored, non-profit organization, which has backed the “Art in the Park” program for nearly two years. Numerous residents have attended the event, and become involved in a hands-on manner.
“It’s where they can make a connection to the art community within McDonough,” said Hunter. “We let people paint, if they want to paint.”
The event chairman said feedback regarding Art in the Park has been positive, particularly as it is a vehicle for younger artists to hone their skills.
“A lot of the arts in schools have been cut, and there are students who still want to work in the arts,” said Hunter.
Debbie Withers, also a board member of McDonough Arts, said the group’s September event attracted many young artists.
The public is invited to interact with the artists who will be on hand for the event, said Withers.
