Clayton State University will welcome the Consul of Greece, Dr. Vassilios Gouloussis, who will speak to the university’s College of Business on Wednesday, April 18.

John Shiffert, director of university relations, said Gouloussis will speak to John Parkerson’s “International Business” class, which meets in room 416 of the James M. Baker University Center from 12:45 p.m. to 1:50 p.m.

“The public is invited to attend. The subject of Gouloussis’ presentation will be, ‘The Euro Crisis Revisited,’ ” said Shiffert.

Shiffert said Gouloussis was born and raised in Athens, Greece, and attended the Classical Lyceum Anavryton and afterwards studied Law at the National and Capodistrian University of Athens. He completed his postgraduate studies (LL.M.) at the University of Tuebingen in Germany, where he also obtained his Ph.D., specializing in International Law of the Sea. From 1997 until 2001. Gouloussis practiced Law as a member of the Athens Bar Association said Shiffert.

“After the fulfillment of his military obligations, he entered the Special Legal Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the rank of Rapporteur, where he remained until 2004, when he was also admitted to the Diplomatic Service,” said Shiffert.

He added Gouloussis later served at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2004 to 2005, and from 2005 to 2006 he served at the Information and Public Diplomacy (MFA Spokesman’s Office) Department. In 2006, he served at the Embassy of Greece in Berlin until October 2008.
