Mrs. Agnes Lewis Cummings
Mrs. Agnes Lewis Cummings, 90, of Forest Park, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Southwest Christian Care in Union City, Ga. She was born in Sylvester, Ga., to the late James Fitzgerald Lewis and Rosa Driggers.
She worked for AA Jones Construction Company during World War II, in Brunswick, Ga., as a welder on Liberty ships. She retired from Riverside Manufacturing after 25 years as a seamstress. She also retired from Merico, in Forest Park, after 25 years. She was a very talented seamstress and loved working on crafts. She always had a hobby. She was a very caring mother and grandmother to all of her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence E. Cummings, and sister, Bernice L. Cummings. She is survived by her sons, Wayne M. Lewis, and his wife, Rudeen Lewis, Gene W. Cummings, and Deroven R. Cummings, and his wife, Denise Cummings; sister, Versie Riner; brother, James F. Lewis, and his wife, Ruby Lewis; 9 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 15, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home, with the Rev. Joe Strickland officiating. Interment will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens in Peachtree City. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 14, from 6 p.m., until 8 p.m., at McKoon Funeral Home.
