Mildred E. (Hardin) Floyd, 90, of Stockbridge, went home to be with the Lord, on April 15, 2012, at her home.
She was born in Rex, to the late J. Roy and Ada Elliott; and predeceased by her three brothers, Hugh, Herman and Roy Elliott, Jr.
Previously, a long-time resident of Chattanooga, Tenn., she was also predeceased by her late husband, Rev. Charles Hardin, whom she had first met in 1941 when he serving as principal of East Clayton Elementary School. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Forest Park, Ga., and also a member of the church’s V.I.P. seniors group.
Survivors include her loving and devoted husband of 18 years, Geddes F. Floyd; sons, Ben (Joyce) Hardin of Ringgold, Fred (Terri) Hardin of Cumming; daughters, Barbara Hardin, of Stockbridge, Nancy Moreland of Ringgold, stepson, Ed Floyd of Newnan; three grandchildren; Rita Beals, Laura Linebarger, and Daniel Hardin; two great-grandchildren; nieces, Donna Rogers of Lilburn, and Carole Hager, of Lady Lake, Fla.; nephews, James Gary Elliott, of Randolph, N.J., and Wesley Elliott, of Rex, Ga.; also cousin Elizabeth E. Welch, of Stone Mountain.
Her funeral service will be held at 11a.m., on April 19, in the chapel of Horis A. Ward funeral home, with her pastor Dr. Reed Crumbliss officiating.
Internment will follow at the Fairview Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by the Horis A. Ward Fairview Chapel, 376 Fairview Rd., Stockbridge. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m., to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
