PREP ROUNDUP: Union Grove girls soccer survives PKs to advance

MCDONOUGH — The Lady Wolverines needed every one of their penalty kicks to survive against Northgate in the first round of the Region 3-AAAA playoffs Wednesday.

Union Grove out-scored the Vikings 5-3 on penalty kicks after 80 minutes of regulation and 20 minutes of overtime left the game in a scoreless tie.

The No. 5-ranked Lady Wolverines (14-0-1) advance to play No. 2-ranked and defending state champion McIntosh (14-1-1) in the region semifinals Friday at 5:30 p.m.

McIntosh defeated Union Grove in the region semifinals last season.
