A one-time employee at a McDonough small-engines business, is now a fugitive, wanted by police.
Jasmine Morten is being sought by McDonough police for aggravated assault, after she allegedly beat a co-worker with a pipe, according to police.
The charge against Morten came after McDonough police officer R. Jewell went to Briggs & Stratton Power Products, located at 535 Macon St., in response to a call about a fight.
“Morten got into a verbal altercation with the victim,” said McDonough Detective J. McCaslin. “It escalated into a physical altercation, at which time Morten did strike the victim with a pipe used as a pressure washer.”
McCaslin said there were “multiple” witnesses to the assault.
The incident took place this month.
The victim told police she initially ignored her assailant.
“Morten kept trying to instigate a fight [with the victim] ... as she finally engaged in an argument with Morten [the victim saw] Morten had her hand on a pipe, and proceeded to walk away,” continued a police report. “The [victim] stated that Morten then walked out of her work area, with the pipe in her hand and struck her several times.”
The victim said she attempted to defend herself, and the altercation ceased when co-workers separated the women, according to the police report.
The victim told police she sustained injuries to her left forearm, left cheek, jawbone, and her back.
“We are asking anyone with information about where we can find Jasmine Morten to call us,” said McCaslin. “Or, they can call the authorities in the jurisdiction where Morten is located.”
McCaslin can be reached at (770) 957-1237 or call McDonough Police at (770) 957-1218.
