JONESBORO — Convicted cop killer Johnathan Bun was sentenced to the maximum allowed under the law Thursday morning after a scathing denunciation by Clayton County Superior Court Chief Judge Deborah Benefield.
Bun was convicted in May for shooting to death Clayton sheriff's Deputy Rick Daly during a traffic stop in Riverdale. Benefield sentenced the 18-year-old to life without parole plus 70 years, which was the recommendation from Daly’s family and prosecution.
The state's key witness was former Clayton Juvenile Court Judge Tracy Graham Lawson, who testified about Bun's juvenile record starting at age 10. Lawson left the bench in 2008 to run for district attorney but recused herself from Bun's prosecution because of her previous involvement in his juvenile case.

What no pleas for mercy from the usual cry babies in the county? At least we have a great DA. Think what would have happened under the previous one! May he ROT in his jail cell!
