BACK TO SCHOOL IMMUNIZATION CAMPAIGN
The last day of the “Back to School Immunization Campaign” sponsored by the Clayton County Board of Health, 1117 Battle Creek Road, Jonesboro, will be Aug. 17, from 7:45 a.m. until 4 p.m. The Board of Health is offering all state-recommended immunizations for persons ages 0-21. ATLANTA CONTEMPORARY JAZZ FESTIVAL
The Atlanta Contemporary Jazz & Neo-Soul Festival will tale place on Friday, August 17th from 5-10 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 18 from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. at Clayton County International Park. This festival is the first of its kind in south metropolitan Atlanta and features a unique blelnd of contemporary jazz and neo-soul under one umbrella.
BROOKDALE DINE AND DANCE CLUB
The Brookdale Dine and Dance Club meets most Fridays, at 6 p.m., at the Jim Huie Recreation Center, 9045 Tara Blvd., Jonesboro. Participants must be 55 years of age or older, and should bring a plate of food. Dinner begins at 6 p.m., with dancing at 6:45 p.m. The cost for dancing is $5. FRIDAY NIGHT DRAGS AT ATLANTA MOTOR SPEEDWAY
Friday Night Drags is a heads-up, street-style drag racing series on Atlanta Motor Speedway’s eighth-mile pit road. Drag racing action is open to any automobile and any driver possessing a valid driver’s license. In addition to the on-track drag racing action, a Show-N-Shine car show also takes place each Friday night. Pit gates open at 6 p.m. for competitors and grandstand gates open at 6:30 p.m. for fans. Show-N-Shine entries are accepted until 7:30 p.m. This is the final night of points for the 2012 season.

JONESBORO FARMERS MARKET
The Jonesboro Farmers Market in downtown Jonesboro will offer fresh veggies on Tuesdays and Saturdays through September this year or until all the gardens play out. The Market will be located on Mill Street in the city parking lot behind the Heritage Bank.
