JONESBORO — The Clayton County Board of Commissioners cleared the way this week for a moviemaker to set up shop for a few months.
The commission voted unanimously Tuesday to enter a three-month leasing agreement with Albany, N.Y.-based film production company Project 2012 Films Inc. to use the old Ingles building on Jonesboro Road in Lake City to film a major motion picture.
“It [the agreement] is being entered into because the production company wants to use the facility as a [temporary] soundstage,” said Clayton County Economic Development Director Grant Wainscott.
Wainscott, whose office also coordinates film productions, would not confirm what movie was to be shot at the old grocery store. He said the lease agreement could be signed by both sides as soon as Friday.
Several movies have had scenes filmed in Clayton County in recent years, including “Footloose,” “Joyful Noise,” “Zombieland” and “The Odd Life of Timothy Green.”
