JONESBORO — A Clayton County sheriff’s detention officer and deputy trainee is now on administrative leave, after she was arrested during an undercover drug bust, according to a spokesperson for the agency.

Christina Danielle Allen was arrested Thursday, after she was caught purchasing 13 Roxycodone pain pills from an undercover Butts County officer, said Clayton County Deputy Sheriff spokesperson James Beveridge.

“She was placed on administrative leave without pay, pending the outcome of the internal affairs investigation,” Beveridge said. “If the outcome of this investigation shows that the allegations are found to be true, then there is a strong possibility she will be terminated.”

Allen is charged with possession of a controlled substance and violation of oath of office. She was released Friday from the Butts County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

Beveridge said Allen has retained an attorney to handle her criminal case with the Butts County Sheriff’s Office.

At the time of her arrest, Allen was training at the public safety academy to become a Clayton County sheriff’s deputy, he added.

“It upsets me that this incident has scarred the reputation of the great employees that work here at the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office,” Beveridge continued. “The correction officers here are shocked and disappointed about her arrest.”
