JONESBORO — A local grocery store chain is telling customers they can save $2 per gallon on gas.
With gas prices on the rise, Kroger is extending its summer fuel promotion, through Dec. 31.
“As fuel costs continue to break new records — spiking to nearly $4 per gallon in metro Atlanta — we are grateful to provide Kroger customers with some relief at the pump,” said Glynn Jenkins, director of communications and public relations for Kroger’s Atlanta Division. “With the extension of our summer fuel promotion, our customers will continue to save up to $2 per gallon at Kroger Fuel Centers through the Holiday season.”
Kroger customers can earn 100 “Fuel Reward Points” for every $100 they spend at Kroger, which instantly saves 10 cents to $2 per gallon at Kroger Fuel Centers, Jenkins said. For example, redeeming 100 points saves customers 10 cents per gallon, and redeeming up to 2,000 points saves $2 per gallon, he added.
In addition to earning one point for every dollar spent in Kroger stores, there are two alternate ways to save on fuel:
Earn quadruple fuel points on select gift cards through Kroger’s back to school promotion, which will continue through Sept. 8. Customers could earn double fuel points on all gift cards after Sept. 8; and earn 50 fuel points when they have prescriptions filled in Kroger pharmacies.
