MORROW— A man wanted for allegedly robbing banks in the Southern Crescent not only has local police searching for him but now has the FBI on his tracks.

Special Agent Stephen Emmett of the Federal Bureau of Investigation Atlanta Division has joined in the search for Revell Edwards. Emmett said Edwards was last seen Dec. 4, in the Hollywood Road area of Atlanta.

Morrow Police Detective Sgt. Larry Oglesby said around 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, Edwards, 21, entered the Wells Fargo Bank located at 6389 Jonesboro Road, in Morrow.

There were four to five customers in the bank at the time of the incident, according to Oglesby.

“He passed a note to the teller, which stated, ‘This is a robbery. Give me 100s, 50s and 20s and I do have a gun,’” Oglesby said.

The teller told police, although she never saw the gun, she gave Edwards approximately $3,700, Oglesby said. Edwards left the bank with the cash but was unaware he also left the bank with a GPS tracking device.

Police said they do not know the make or model of the car Edwards used to make his get-away from the Wells Fargo bank.

“The tracking device led us to an address in Atlanta,” Oglesby added. “While my officers were in route to Atlanta they lost the tracking signal and that’s when APD (Atlanta Police Department) was contacted and they picked up the tracking device signal. APD picked up on the tracking device and made contact with the subject.”

Oglesby said when Edwards was taken into custody by the Atlanta police he still had the stolen money and the tracking device. APD officers handcuffed Edwards and placed him in the back of the police car.

“That’s when we were notified to meet them at the address in Atlanta,” Oglesby said. “Upon our arrival the APD notified Morrow police and said that the subject escaped from their custody.”

Oglesby said Edwards has outstanding arrest warrants in Henry County accusing him of robbing a Suntrust bank. “This individual is also wanted for robbing a Suntrust Bank on Eagles Landing Parkway, in Henry County on Nov. 13,” Emmett said. “We consider him armed and dangerous.”

Emmett said Edwards, a Stockbridge resident is now facing various bank robber charges in Henry and Clayton counties.

Anyone with information about Edwards whereabouts is asked to call the FBI at 404- 679- 9000 or Morrow Police Detective Sgt. Larry Oglesby at 770-961-4006, or 911.
