The plaque was presented to Bell during his final meeting as the Board of Health’s chairman Dec. 18.
JONESBORO — With Eldrin Bell’s tenure as chairman of the Clayton County Board of Commissioners set to end next week, his departure from elected office will be felt beyond the county commission’s dais.
Bell will also leave his post as chairman of the Clayton County Board of Health at the same time. Health board spokesman Joel Hall said by law the county commission chairman simultaneously serves as chairman of the Clayton County Board of Health. That means the Dec. 18 Board of Health — the last meeting of the board for 2012 — was also Bell’s last meeting as the head of the health board.
As the board finished its business, Clayton County District Health Director Dr. Alpha Fowler Bryan presented Bell with a plaque to honor his eight years with the health board, Hall said. County commission Chairman-elect Jeff Turner is expected to become the health board chairman in January, when he takes office.

Clayton County BOC Chairman Eldrin Bell said he is leaving Clayton County better than he found it.
**Yes, when he took office things looked bad and now that he's leaving things are looking better already.

I want to change my career. Last year was a bad year, I lost my favorite job and now I am working in a domain that I hate. I found out that the local Hospital is looking for a healthcare administrator. Because I have a degree in this field, I am going to apply there and see what is happening. I am sick of my actual service. I will keep in mind your advice for my future job, thanks for them, they are really good.
