JONESBORO The first meeting of the new Clayton County Board of Commissioners will be delayed because of New Dear’s Day revelry, according to the county’s government.
The county commission normally meets on the first, second and third Tuesdays of every month. However, the first Monday in January is New Years Day and that is a holiday for the county’s government. Therefore, the commission has to make a one-time change and hold its first meeting of 2013 on Jan. 2 at 7 p.m. It will be held at the Board of Commissioners Building located at 112 Smith St., in Jonesboro.
It will mark the beginning of a new chapter in county government because it will be the first meeting for new commission Chairman Jeff Turner and new District 3 Commissioner Shana Rooks. They take office Jan. 1.
