FOREST PARK — Two men are accused of stealing 17 flat-screen televisions from their former employer.
Clayton County Police arrested Frederick Andre Perdue and charged him with burglary Thursday.
The alleged theft occurred Nov. 3, between 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., at the Service Center Team workplace located at 5148 Kennedy Road, Suite 600, in Forest Park, according to the arrest warrant.
A representative of the company, Corey Wilson, discovered the burglary and told police the flat-screen televisions were valued at $11,225.
Clayton County Police Detective W.E. Deese said Wilson identified Trevis Centrell Burkes, 32, and Perdue, 39, from a surveillance video. Wilson told police the burglary suspects were contract employees for SCT and had been recently laid off.
Police said the alleged theft happened on a Saturday, when the business was closed.
“They had no legal reason to be at the business on Nov. 3,” Deese said. “Burkes entered the building through the front door by using a key that he failed to return to the business after he was laid off. He later let Perdue into the business through the back door.”
Police said security surveillance video showed Burkes and Perdue taking various models of 17 televisions.
Clayton County Police Crimes Scene Unit obtained a left thumb print from a 70-inch cardboard television box that was left at the back door of the business, said the detective. Police said the thumb print matched Burkes’.
