It may not be a Best Picture Oscar, but a “Best of Show” award in Arts Clayton’s annual Juried Art Competition can bring some positive exposure to an artist.
The Jonesboro-based arts group is set to announce the winner of this year’s Juried Art Competition on Friday, during an opening reception for a month-long exhibit featuring more than 130 pieces entered in the contest.
The reception is set to run from 5:30 p.m., to 7:30 p.m., at the group’s gallery, located at 136 South Main Street, in Jonesboro. It is free to attend, and open to the general public.
The artist whose work is judged “Best of Show,” will win $1,000, and the piece will go into the gallery’s permanent collection, Arts Clayton has announced. The artist also typically gets his, or her, own feature exhibit, as a reward for producing the top item in the contest.
