Costa Anderson scored 16 points and teammate Darius Carmichael added 15 as Forest Park defeated visiting North Clayton 53-50 in both teams’ regular-season finale.

With the win, Forest Park clinches the No. 3 seed in next week’s Region 4-AAAA tournament at Tri-Cities High. The Panthers swept North Clayton this season in two match-ups.

Marcus Hunt, a Georgia Tech signee, finished with 17 points, as Yellow Jackets coach Brian Gregory watched. Eagles guard Stephon Bradley added 10 points as the team dropped to 14-10 overall and 12-6 in the region.

Eagle’s Landing (boys) 87, Locust Grove 38: Senior Keith Colquitt finished with a game-high 28 points as the third-ranked Golden Eagles closed out their regular-season home schedule with a rout.

P. J. McNeal added 11 points as Eagle’s Landing improved to 22-2, 14-1 in Region 4-AAA.

COLLEGES

Clayton State (women) 81, Georgia College 56: The road continued to be kind for the Lakers on Tuesday as they rolled to an impressive victory at in-state rival Georgia College in Peach Belt Conference action.

The victory was the third straight for Clayton State, which is ranked No. 4 in Division II. The Lakers improve to 21-2 overall and 11-1 in the Peach Belt, while Georgia College falls to 4-17 overall and 2-10 in the Peach Belt.

“This is crunch time, and every game is key,” Clayton State coach Dennis Cox said. “The press worked very well for us, but Georgia College was well-prepared and played hard.”

Kayla Mobley paced Clayton State with a career-high 19 points while Alexiss Griffin scored a career-high 16 points on four 3-point baskets.

“Alexiss had a tremendous game and I am happy and proud for her,” Cox said. “She has worked so hard in practice, and today she took advantage of the opportunity.”

Clayton State (men) 62, Georgia College 55: Facing a lot of obstacles on Tuesday, the Clayton State men showed plenty of heart, courage and perseverance in a victory at in-state rival Georgia College in Peach Belt Conference action.

The victory is the fourth in the last five games for the Lakers, who improve to 14-7 overall and 6-6 in the Peach Belt.

The Lakers played without two starters, and senior wing and leading scorer Teondre Williams missed the final 10 minutes of the game with a non-serious injury.

Tony Dukes scored a career-high 19 points for the Lakers, followed by Tyrone Black with a career-high 12 points. Williams scored 10 points and Torrin Greene added eight points. Ryan Aquino recorded a double-double for Georgia College with 28 points and 10 rebounds.

“Tony Dukes did a tremendous job running the team tonight,” Gibbons said. “And the leadership of Dobbs and Torrin Greene was awesome. We had a great defensive effort tonight.”
