The Clayton State University Enrollment Management Division will host a “Care & Majors” Fair on Thursday, Feb. 9, from 10:30 a.m., to 1:30 p.m., and from 4:30 p.m., to 6 p.m., on the second floor of the James M. Baker University Center. The purpose is for students to “rediscover campus programs and services that support their success.”
Jonesboro High School will host a “Tribute to Success” awards program for juniors and seniors, at 6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 9, at the school, located at 7728 Mt. Zion Boulevard, in Jonesboro.

McGarrah Elementary School’s PEARL ––a girl's mentoring program –– is hosting “Mom for Muffins,” at 8:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 14, at the school, located at 2201 Lake Harbin Road in, Morrow.
Wednesday, Feb. 15
Clayton County Public Schools will host the “50 Million Dollar Scholarship Parent Meeting Financial Aid Work Session” on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 6 p.m., at the Professional Learning Building, located at 1087 Battle Creek Rd., in Jonesboro.

Clayton County’s public schools and the administration building will be closed in observance of winter break and Presidents Day. Schools will resume normal business hours Tuesday, Feb. 21.
The Clayton County Retired Educators Association will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m., at the Jonesboro First United Methodist Church on Main Street, in the Christian Activities Building. The guest speaker will be Edie Yongue, executive director of "Keep Forest Park Beautiful." Recycling will be the major topic for discussion. Hawthorne Elementary School Assistant Principal Mike Thompson has announced that a “Parent Curriculum Night” (math and science) will be held at the school starting at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 23. All parents are invited to participate.
Clayton County Public Schools will present its third annual “Unity in the Community College Fair and Step Show” on Saturday, Feb. 25, at Mundy's Mill High. A free college fair and fine arts showcase will begin at 10 a.m., followed by a marching band showcase featuring Forest Park, Drew, Mundy's Mill, and Jonesboro high schools, from 11:30 a.m., until 1 p.m. The step show will begin at 1 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $5 at all district schools.
Clayton County Public Schools' Pre-K registration for the 2012-2013 Pre-k Lottery will be held at each Pre-k site, Monday, March 5, through Friday, March 9. The child must be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1, to qualify for Georgia's Pre-K Program. Regular registration hours are 8:30 a.m., to 11:30 a.m., and 1 p.m., to 4 p.m., on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Extended registration hours are Thursday, March 8, from 1 p.m., to 6 p.m. Acceptance into Clayton County Public Schools' Pre-k classes will be based on a “computer-generated” lottery system for each site, with priority given to children residing within the individual school attendance areas. Parents may register their child for only one Clayton County Public Schools Pre-k site.
The Clayton County Public Library System offers many services to students, including online practice tests and tutorials in math, reading and writing, as well as test-preparation materials for the SAT, ASVAB, GED, TOEFFL, and Occupational Aptitude Tests.
