Clayton County police arrested five people after finding thousands of dollars in cash, and marijuana, inside a Riverdale home, according to a police spokesman.

Officer Gary Syblis said the arrests were made, Thursday, at about 4:45 p.m., when detectives with the narcotics unit went to the house on Quail Hunt Drive. Syblis said the officers had gotten information from the Fairburn Police Department about possible illegal activity.

"A large quantity of marijuana was purchased from that house and a large quantity was still there," he said.

When detectives arrived, Syblis said they reported smelling a "strong odor" of marijuana coming from the house, and secured a search warrant.

Syblis said the search warrant uncovered about 4 pounds of marijuana with a street value of about $10,000. Detectives also reported finding an AK-47 assault rifle and a .380-caliber semi-automatic handgun. They also seized about $7,600 in cash.
