The Bible says in Hebrews, chapter 11: “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

As Christians, we have faith in God’s Word, the Holy Bible. We believe and trust that it is true that God really does exist, that He loves us and has plans for our good. Jeremiah 29:11 says: “’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

We might ask, “What is truth?” Truth is that which describes an actual state of affairs. Truth means “telling it like it is.” Pilate, the Roman governor once asked Jesus, “What is truth?” Without waiting for a reply, Pilate said, “I find no fault in this man.” Jesus really was innocent. Pilate “was telling it like it is.”

Consider this statement: “Everything is true.” That’s an absolute, narrow, an exclusive claim. It excludes it’s opposite, that is, it claims that the statement, “everything is not true,” is wrong. In fact, all truths exclude their opposites. For instance, If Christianity is true, then anything opposed to Christianity is false. For example, the world has always been round, but before Columbus’ time, people believed the world was flat.

Jesus said in John 8:32, “If you hold to my teachings, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” Do you believe in the teachings of Jesus Christ? Do you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of the world?

Do you have faith that if you put your trust in Jesus and repent of your sins, God will forgive your sins and remember them no more? Romans 10:9-10 says: “If you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart, God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and it is with your mouth you confess and are saved.” Verse 13 says, “Everyone who calls on the Name of the Lord will be saved.”

Those who truly believe are saved from Hell and the Devil — a wasted life with many regrets and much sorrow. Believers are saved to a blessed life with much happiness and contentment here on earth, and eternal life with our God in Heaven.

God wants everyone to be saved, to believe in Jesus Christ and to serve Him while here on earth and then, to be raised from this world to Heaven when we die. In Heaven, we shall have fellowship with Jesus in the most beautiful home imaginable. We shall have perfect peace and contentment as we walk with God and renew our friendship with our loved ones and our Christian friends. There will be no more sadness, no more tears, no crying or disappointment for the Lord Himself will wipe away our tears. We shall live forever in the presence and peace of the Lord our God.

Do you have faith enough to believe God and to repent of your sin? (Simply admit your sin and ask God to forgive your trespasses in Jesus’ name.)

Perhaps the greatest verse in the Bible is found in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world [all humans] that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever (you and me) believes in Him should not perish but would have everlasting life.” He has made it easy and simple for us — just believe and trust in Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. Just have faith and believe and trust in the truth — in the Lord our God. I pray you will.
