Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport will choose 30 of its Twitter followers for a restricted tour of its new international terminal, according to an airport spokesman.
Al Snedeker said the contest, to win an exclusive tour of the Maynard H. Jackson Jr. International Terminal, will last until Friday, Feb. 24, at 11:59 p.m. The winners will be randomly chosen through a drawing, he said.
For eligibility, entrants must follow Atlanta Airport’s Twitter feed and re-tweet a contest message, he said. The airport’s Twitter page can be accessed by visiting, twitter.com/#!/atlanta_airport.
“Very few people, if any, from the general public have seen the inside of the international terminal, in person,” added Louis Miller, aviation general manager at Hartsfield-Jackson.
He said this is a way the airport can produce interest and awareness of the facility, which will open this spring.
The tour of the international terminal will occur on March 14, and complete rules of the contest can be accessed by visiting the airport’s web site, www.atlanta-airport.com.
According to the “Official Rules” document, the contest is available to legal residents of the U.S. and the District of Columbia, who are at least 18 years old at the time of entry.
The airport will Tweet messages that mention the sweepstakes. Participants must respond to these messages with the “#ATLIntl” hashtag to receive an entry.
Those chosen will receive direct notification via a tweet, or direct message from the “@Atlanta_Airport” Twitter account. The winners will be responsible for their travel expenses, if needed.
Airport spokesman, Snedeker, said the international terminal is 1.2 million square feet in size, with 12 gates, and will be accessed from I-75 at Exit 239. Combined with the current Concourse E at Hartsfield-Jackson, the airport will have a 40-gate international complex.
