Mt. Zion High School's STAR student hopes to, one day, see her name in lights on Broadway, preferably in a hit, long-running musical.
Amanda Johnson, daughter of Shirley Johnson, was named STAR student after making the highest SAT score at her school. Her STAR teacher is Prince T. Bowie.
"He teaches musical theater, and I want to be a musical theater actress," said Johnson.
"His presence has pushed me forward to seek higher levels, not only in acting but in my studies. I love performing and always have."
Johnson has applied to several colleges, but her top schools are NYU and the American Musical and Dramatic Academy.
"I love performing, I always have," she said. "'Chicago' is my favorite musical, but I've never seen it on Broadway."
