D’Andre Waller sees himself, in 10 years, with a master’s in mechanical engineering and settled down. But for now, he is focused on attending a local university.
Waller, 17, is the STAR student at Lovejoy High School. He said he is an International Baccalaureate student there, and holds a 4.2 grade-point average.
“It makes me feel like my hard work is paying off, and I am proud of myself,” he said.
Waller said he’s been accepted to the Georgia Institute of Technology and Morehouse College. He is on a waiting list for Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Yale University, in Connecticut, he explained.
He said, although he has obtained a full scholarship at Morehouse College, his eyes are set on Georgia Tech.
Family, said Waller, is very important, and staying local suits him best.
