M.D. Roberts Middle School cheerleaders participated in the 4th Annual Southside Cheer/Dance/and Step Competition at Kendrick Middle School. The team received 1st place for all middle schools. “We are extremely proud of our cheerleaders,” said the team’s coach, Karen Lee.

Clayton County Board of Education Member Mary Baker was voted the new Vice Chairperson by her peers, during Monday night’s board meeting. Baker was chosen in a 5-1 vote over Charlton Bivins.

The Clayton County Schools Department of Guidance and Counseling will host a “100 Days Kindergarten Carnival” Saturday, Jan. 21, from 10 a.m., to noon. The event will be held in the Mundy’s Mill Middle School Gymnasium, located at 1251 Mundy’s Mill Road, in Jonesboro.
Forest Park High School made history this past Saturday, according to Panther Wrestling Coach Don Williams. The wrestling team won its first Region Title in the history of the school by posting a5-0 record and beating Lovejoy High in the finals, 44-30. Forest Park and Lovejoy will represent Area 4-AAAA this Friday and Saturday, Jan. 13 -14, at the AAAA State Duals in Macon.
Air Force Reserve Airman Jonathan Crawford has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, in San Antonio, Texas. Edwards is a 2009 graduate of Luella High School, and is the son of Lori Magras, of Jonesboro.
Clayton County residents Kendra Bridges, Zachary Denn, Nicholas Ganopulos, Catrina Parham, and Devin Sparkman were named to the Middle Georgia College Dean’s list for the fall 2011 semester. The Dean’s list includes full-time students who achieve a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
Danile Shubow, of Jonesboro; Nichile Melton-Mitschell, and Kevin Hill, all of Riverdale; Johnny Harris, Xavier Pitts, Jacquelyn Gordon, Talisa Clark, and Nuntavan Howard, of Ellenwood, received Master’s Degrees from Clayton State University, during the 2011fall commencement ceremony.

No appointment is necessary for the shots, which can be administered to individuals, age 3 years old, and older. Costs are: Clayton State students, faculty, staff, and family members –– $15.
