Singh heading medical affairs at Piedmont Henry Hospital

Piedmont Henry Hospital has a new person overseeing its medical services.

Dr. Jagdeep Singh was recently named Vice President for Medical Affairs (VPMA) and Chief Medical Officer, at the hospital.

“I am delighted to be here, and have joined Piedmont Henry Hospital’s team at this exciting and important time of transition into the Piedmont Healthcare system,” said Singh. “Over the next few months, I look forward to meeting our physicians and the staff, learning about the hospital culture at Piedmont Henry Hospital, as well as gaining an understanding of the challenges and opportunities ahead.”

Singh will have administrative responsibility for the Performance Improvement Department and the Medical Staff Office at the hospital, according to its public relations specialist, Michelle Nunnally.

“He will work closely with case management in the area of utilization management and with other departments toward the goal of improving quality of care, cost effectiveness in the delivery of care, and improvement of clinical processes at Piedmont Henry Hospital,” said Nunnally.

“Dr. Singh will serve as a liaison between the hospital and medical staff, and will work closely with Piedmont Healthcare during the integration process into the Piedmont system.”

Singh’s work experience includes approximately five years as a vice president-medical affairs in two healthcare systems.

“He comes to Piedmont Henry Hospital from Minneapolis, Minn., where he worked as the VPMA for the 390-bed Fairview Southdale Hospital, which is part of the seven-hospital Fairview Health Services system,” said Nunnally.

“Prior to this, Dr. Singh held the VPMA position at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y., which is part of the Catholic Health System.”

Nunnally added that Singh completed a residency in Family Practice in Sylvania, Ohio, and a Fellowship in Emergency Medicine at the University of Tennessee, in Memphis, Tenn.

“Prior to becoming a VPMA, Dr. Singh was an emergency physician as well as the [Emergency Medical Services] Medical Director in Columbus, Ga.,” Nunnally continued.

Singh has an master’s degree in business administration, from the Physician Executive Program at Auburn University. He is a Certified Physician Executive and a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Singh is married, and has a 12-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter.
