Clayton County sheriff’s investigators and Forest Park police officers seized about a ton of marijuana during a raid at two locations Tuesday night.
Clayton County sheriff's investigators and Forest Park police officers arrested four men, Tuesday night, and seized about 1 ton of marijuana, from two different locations.
Clayton Sheriff's Lt. Brian Crisp said the two departments –– working with other investigative agencies –– concluded a segment of a continuing investigation into the activities of a Mexican drug-trafficking organization operating in Clayton County.
Investigators raided two locations late Tuesday night, finding about 1,000 pounds of marijuana in each place, said Crisp.
Officers first went to a warehouse at 4698 Lake Mirror Place in Forest Park. They followed a van suspected of being loaded with marijuana from the warehouse to a residence at 5585 Eagle's Feather Lane in Riverdale. Officers found another 1,000 pounds of marijuana at the house, he said.
Investigators arrested Alejandro Frenandez Lopez, 36, of Jonesboro; Jesus Ochoa Lopez, 30, of Riverdale, and Donis Marco Antonio Carmona, 36, and Luis Duran Apolinar, 24, both of Forest Park.
Crisp said the investigation is ongoing.
The men are charged with trafficking marijuana. All are being held without bond in the Clayton County Jail. They made a first appearance in Clayton Magistrate Court, where they learned that being arrested could affect their immigration status.
